Borderline: Cordillera del Cóndor
~3.57°S, 78.52°W
oil on canvas, 130 × 97 cm, 2026
The Cordillera del Cóndor is a forested mountain range along the border between Ecuador and Peru. A long-standing territorial dispute culminated in armed conflict in 1995 and was resolved through a peace agreement in 1998. Today, the Río Quimi valley on the Ecuadorian side remains an area of conflict over land rights, water resources and the environmental impact of copper mining, particularly around the Mirador mine.

Cordillera del Cóndor to porośnięte lasem pasmo górskie na granicy Ekwadoru i Peru. Wieloletni spór terytorialny doprowadził w 1995 roku do konfliktu zbrojnego, a zakończyło go porozumienie pokojowe z 1998 roku. Dziś dolina rzeki Quimi po stronie ekwadorskiej pozostaje obszarem sporów o prawa do ziemi, zasoby wodne i środowiskowe konsekwencje wydobycia miedzi, szczególnie w rejonie kopalni Mirador.
